Should The Pressure Gauge Be Sealed?

Should the pressure gauge be sealed?

0.02Y

After the pressure gauge is in the hands of users, some users often ask for replacement of the pressure gauge with a lead seal, add a lead seal, or even request a return.

This raises the question of whether the pressure gauge should be sealed.

Since the 86th edition of the national standard for pressure gauges was revised in 1985, there have indeed been disagreements on whether to add lead (seal) to the pressure gauge.

One is the opinion of the standard-setting department: It is believed that my country's requirement for lead sealing for pressure gauges is based on the regulations on lead sealing in the national standard for pressure gauges promulgated by the former Soviet Union in 1972. However, none of the pressure gauge national standards promulgated by the Soviet Union in 1980 made lead sealing requirements. In view of the fact that the national standards for pressure gauges in several advanced industrialized countries do not provide for lead seals, the pressure gauge standards in my country are consistent with their adoption, and the standards do not provide for lead seals.

The other side is the opinion of the labor and personnel department: the pressure gauge is considered to be a part of the boiler pressure gauge container equipment, and from a safety point of view, it is advocated that the pressure gauge should be sealed.

For this reason, on June 20, 1989, the third office of the former National Bureau of Standards convened a coordination meeting on the pressure gauge lead sealing problem for precision pressure gauges, and relevant persons in charge and experts are invited to participate.

Through consultation, the meeting finally reached a consensus, agreed to the regulations not to seal the pressure gauges, and put forward specific measures to ensure the supply of pressure gauges with lead seals.

Therefore, in the 1987 edition of the National Standard for Pressure Gauges (GB 1226-1986), there is no clause on the seal of the pressure gauge.

In the 1987 version of the Pressure Gauge Verification Regulations (JJG 52-1987), Article 21 states: "The pressure gauges that have been certified shall be sealed or issued with a certificate, and if necessary, a certificate shall be issued at the same time as the seal."

In this way, neither the stainless steel pressure gauge production standards nor the pressure gauge verification regulations have made hard regulations on the pressure gauge lead seal.

Therefore, the following conclusions are drawn on whether the pressure gauge should be sealed:

      1. When the user puts forward the seal requirement when purchasing the pressure gauge or indicates that the seal is to be added in the order contract, the manufacturer should meet the user's requirement. If the manufacturer does not seal the pressure gauge, the user can request replacement, supplementation, or even return of the product.

      2. When the user does not indicate the need to add a lead seal when placing an order, and the delivered product does not have a lead seal, the user can request to add a lead seal, or the supplier and the buyer can negotiate to solve the problem, but it cannot be regarded as a rejection or return.
