The main differences between PT100 two-wire system and three-wire system are as follows:
1.Different wiring methods: Two-wire PT100 is the simplest connection method. Only two wires are used to connect the PT100 sensor to the measurement circuit. Of the two wires, one is used to transmit signals, and the other serves as both a power wire and a ground wire. The three-wire PT100 connects the sensor to the measurement circuit through three wires, namely power wire, signal wire and ground wire.
2.Different measurement accuracy: The measurement accuracy of the two-wire PT100 is relatively low due to the influence of wire resistance. The three-wire PT100 effectively eliminates the influence of wire resistance on measurement results by separating the power line and signal line, thereby improving measurement accuracy.
3.Different application scenarios: Two-wire PT100 is usually used in situations where the measurement accuracy requirements are not too strict or the wiring space is limited. The three-wire PT100 is widely used in occasions that require high measurement accuracy because of its high accuracy and stability.

A sensor's sensitivity indicates how much the sensor's output changes when the input quantity being measured changes. For instance, if the mercury in a thermometer moves 1 cm when the temperature changes by 1 DegreeC, the sensitivity is 1 cm/ DegreeC (it is basically the slope Dy/Dx assuming a linear characteristic).

RTD stands for Resistance Temperature Device. Quite simply, the sensor comprises of a resistor that changes value with temperature. The most common RTD by far is the PT100 385. This element measures 100 Ohms @ 0 degrees C (32 °F) and 138.5 Ohms @ 100 °C (212.0 °F).
One of the greatest challenges for instrument engineers is dealing with the relatively low resistance of the device. This is because any stray resistance (in particular lead resistance) of RTD assembly can add a significant error to the measured resistance.
To combat this, different lead compensation schemes were invented and have come to be known as 2 wire, 3 wire and 4 wire.

3WIRE PT100 WIRE CONNECTION INSTRUCTION:
The three-wire PT100 temperature sensor has three leads. Usually A, B, C or black, red and yellow can be used to represent the three wires. The three wires have the following rules: the resistance between A and B or C is about 110 ohms at room temperature, and the resistance between B and C is 0 ohms. B and C are straight-through internally. In principle, there is no difference between B and C, but in practical applications they must be connected. There are three fixed terminals for connecting the sensor to the meter: Line A is connected to one fixed terminal of the meter that is connected to the sensor. Line B and C are connected to the other two fixed terminals on the meter. The positions of lines B and C can be interchanged, but they must be connected.
